Good Evening, welcome to our last meeting for the season. Tonight is also, our AGM.
Tonight’s meeting is ‘All about Roses’ presented by Kate Broughy from Fryer’s Garden Centre. Who doesn’t love a rose, such stunning flowers, I’m sure Kate can help us make our beautiful roses look even more beautiful. If you cannot resist Roses, Kate is bringing some roses with her should you want to buy one, but Payments must be in cash
Every year during the AGM we have our annual competition. This year we asked you to bring along 3 stems of flowers of the same colour in a container. They can be of the same variety or different, but all of the same colour.
Did you enjoy the visit to Sandymere Gardens last week? Rachel, Head Gardener stayed with us throughout to be ready to answer any questions asked. Rachael is always so helpful.
We know how much you enjoy visiting other gardens, so here’s is another for the diary. Monday 7th July at 1.30pm we will be going to Bowmere Cottage Garden at Tarporley. CW6 0BS. The cost is £10, including refreshments. There is a maximum No. of 25 so no dilly dallying, if you want to go, book tonight.
Each year we have entered the Christmas Tree Festival at the Frodsham Methodist Church. This year instead of Christmas trees there is going to be a Scarecrow Festival, this is the very first scarecrow Festival so, of course, we have applied to join in the fun. The date is Saturday 27th September. There will be a small market/stalls in the hall and refreshments will be available also. The Scarecrows will be displayed either inside the Church or in the garden grounds. Our entry will be called “Gardening Scarecrow.” So, we will be looking for ideas to dress our scarecrow, We would love your help with ideas?
Gwyn and her band of Gardeners have done a wonderful job with all the planters around the Town, apart from the occasional wine bottle or a can or two pushed into the displays, the tubs and gardens of our lovely town are looking just grand, We are all proud to live in such a beautiful town like Frodsham and these planters all add to it being even more beautiful.
After lots of hard work Gwyn has found all the speakers for 2026, there is just one more to find, but you can be sure 2026 will be a very interesting year for our great Club.
An urgent plea of help by Helen Robinson who helps in Castle Park by the Arts Centre, Can you spare a little time on Wednesday and Saturday mornings? Due to Staff cuts over time the gardens need as much voluntary help as they can get. Can you spare a little time to help keep Castle Park stay as special as it always has been?
Next meeting 22nd September. We have Ann Harrison here to answer the question every one of us must have asked someone sometime, ‘What’s wrong with my plant’ so don’t forget to be here next September for the answers.
