Welcome to our 2022 Christmas Workshop.
Good Evening. It seems a very long time ago since Covid came between us and our last workshop, and we do love our workshops don’t we. Well at long last we have managed it. We’re here!
We have had fun making various crafts towards our Christmases over the years and although we have made wreaths before tonight gives us the chance to try something different and even better. Eleanor Griffiths is back with us again, Eleanor lives locally and runs the Evening Flower Club here in the Community Centre at 7.30, on the 2nd Wednesday in the month, she is an expert flower arranger having won medals for her cutting-edge designs in shows all over the country, including Chelsea, Southport and Harrogate, so to have her here with us to teach us how to make these beautiful Christmas wreaths for our homes, well, how exciting! so do you have your ribbons, baubles and other glorious decorations at hand tonight? Good, then let’s get going and enjoy ourselves.
We will have our special Christmas raffle courtesy of the Committee Members so don’t forget to get your tickets before we start, and we will have some lovely Christmas goodies to go with our tea or coffee after all the fun of making the wreaths.
During 2022 We have had some amazing speakers and covered quite a wide spectrum of subjects and of course we had our annual coach trip out to RHS Bridgewater Gardens in May, but we still have 2023 to come! To start the new year off we will have Ray Bailey with us, Ray will be talking about ‘Winter Gardening’. He has an MA in History and Archaeology and as we already know gives talks on Gardening which he will no doubt combine with his other subjects within his talk. We don’t expect to get much gardening done in early winter but after Rays talk we should be well informed and ready to garden when the light last longer and the weather is warmer.
Preparations are in hand for the decorating of the Christmas Tree at the Methodist Church, Sue, Fiona, Judy and Gwyn are preparing to dress the tree, we will keep you informed on their progress. If you have the time the trees will be on show from Friday 2nd December to Sunday 4th December, please pop in and give them support.
Mary Dudson decided a few months ago to stand down from the raffle table, Mary ran the raffle table for many years and the club has presented her with a thank you card and flowers in thanks.
