Good evening and welcome to our June meeting, Have you brought some flowers from your garden for
this years’ competition? It’s always lovely to see everyone’s entry.
As you are aware tonight is our AGM, it is also the last of our meetings until 28th September, when
the Head Gardener, Gordon Baillie will be here to tell us all about Arley Hall. Arley Garden Festival
runs from Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June, from 10-5pm. visit www.arleyhallandgardens.com. NGS

Did you enjoy our May outing to Jacqueline Iddon’s wonderful garden? My! What a garden that was
They are such an amazing family. Huge Garden ornaments, Life like sculptures, A Hand made, quite
breathtaking Log Cabin, and of course Stunning Gardens. Each member of Jacquelines family has
quite amazing skills, each equally stunning work as the others. To finish our day we stopped off at
John Bents’ garden, where actually bumped into the man himself slowly wandering around his pride
and joy and so we had another personal quide to show us around. What a day.
Our next day out is to the Southport Flower Show on 20th August, leaving the Community Centre at
9.30am, returning about 4.00pm. The cost of the trip is €35.00 for members and non-members; this
price includes entry to the show. There will be plenty of dining options. If you need a sit-down. There
are 4 seats still available. So book your seat now. Don’t miss the chance of a good day out.
As you are well aware, everything is very expensive these days, including our speakers who need to
travel some distances to get here. For instance Room Hire, Speakers Fee and Travel fees, Website
Fee. Planters around Frodsham, various local visits to private gardens, Coach Hire, RHS Affiliation
Fee. And many, many, more. As you can see there is a lot to running a good club. We are proposing an
increase to €20 joining fee, which is for 8 meetings at the equivalent of €2.50 per meeting. We are
only at discussion stage and shall inform you when decisions have been made. We don’t want to lose
you so we hope you will agree with our needs.
We have always finished our meetings with a lovely hot ‘cuppa’, it’s lovely to sit and chat and discuss
what the Speaker has just gone through, but we may have to stop it in the future. The Committee has
a lot to do at every meeting, but we do need help. We need just two people at each meeting. Just 2
people per meeting, 16 people over the eight meetings. So we are asking if you and one other can
help with the teas at the meetings. We can set it out for you, all you will need to do is add water to
the cups for tea or coffee. Just once in the year. We plan to send round a rota for those who can
help. Alas, if we don’t have help, we will have to stop our tea/coffee and biscuit
All the planters around the Town are being attended by Gwyn Woodward (your Chairwoman,) Helen
Robinson, Chris, Fiona Purcell and other members, they attend the planters by the Library, The Post
Office, and the very difficult garden under the railway bridge by Zucca. They are doing a grand job
