Good Evening and may we wish you a Very Happy New Year.
To start the year off, Sharon Maher has kindly come to answer lots of
questions you are bound to have, Sharon will let us know everything there is to
know about The National Garden Scheme, She is also the Booklet coordinator
for the NGS.
I’m sure most of us have been to a NGS garden at some time, the rules are very
strict and lot of factors have to be strictly so. Why? Well probably because we
want to see perfection. And those gardens are certainly perfect, perhaps we
will visit one of them this year.
Gordale Garden Centre are having a Houseplant and Orchid Festival Weekend
On Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1stFebruary from 11.00 to 16.00. Karens
free talk’Spring Treasures on Wednesday 4th February 10.30 to 11.00. That
could be a lovely way to take up a few hours on a cold February day.
We are often asking you if there is a particular speaker you would like to listen
to and of course we always want to visit a lovely garden that we haven’t been to
before so keep yours eyes open when you are out and about. And let us know.
We still need ideas for our May visit, please keep in mind the garden must be
less than an hour’s drive away, We must make the answer by the next meeting
so put your thinking hats on please.
We have noticed that at some of the meetings members have difficulty hearing
the speaker talking, or you may have difficulty seeing the screen. Please let us
know either before the evening starts or after the talk. We don’t want the
speaker being disrupted once they have started, but we will take note and do
our best to solve the problem.
If you are looking for some jobs in the garden, now’s the time to trim your
fruit, you could start chitting Potatoes, and check out your Dahlias.
Our speakers for February are Richard and Vicky Fox from Plantagogo, and the
subject requested by our members is… Heucheras. A very popular plant.
