Goodevening. Welcome to our April meeting.  Do you ever think of using certain plants in your garden to aid recovery from the odd ailment?  Tonight Sue Jeffries will enlighten us on the use of therapeutic gardening.  Sue is a freelance trainer and consultant for a range of public and charity sector organizations, she is also an experienced Social and Therapeutic Horticulture practitioner and a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture.  Sue is also an author of a number of books on therapeutic garden design some of which she is bringing with her tonight if you should like to purchase one.

Frodsham Methodist Church is holding a Spring Plant Fair on Saturday 11th May 2pm – 4pm. Why not come along and spruce up you garden with young plants and cuttings. Drinks and cakes are available.

Also on Saturday 11th May at Gordale Garden Centre on the Wirral there is a 30 minute gardening masterclass entitled ‘Top 25 Plants’ with David Domoney, author and broadcaster.  This will be followed by a question and answer session, Entry is free.

Other plant fairs, Cholmondelay Castle Gardens Macclesfield. Sunday 28th April, 10.00am-1700 £5.00.  Capesthome Hall, also at Macclesfield, Sunday 12th May 10.00am-16.00pm Gaarden & Fair £4.00.

The community gardens being done by our members are looking good for the time of year. The bushes are flowering, the sweet William have survived and the tulips look beautiful. Now that these community gardens are being looked after they really are beginning to make Frodshamlook good, what a grand job our members are doing for the town.

May 20th the date of our annual day out to the Dorothy Clive Gardens and Bridgemere Garden centre is coming fast, keep your fingers crossed for good weather but common sense says to bring your waterproofs and wear good strong shoes, there will no doubt be tearooms available, but bringing a sandwich and a drink is always a good idea.

Now then – have you sown your seeds for our annual herb competition yet? It is good growing weather now, just beware of any late frosts so protect your seedlings, and please remember they must be brought to the AGM in ONE pot, so be careful about the size and weight

Don’t we feel happier just seeing longer lighter days? When the sun shines it’s so lovely to get out in the fresh air hopefully we might get a good summer this year. Fingers crossed.

That certainly is therapeutic gardening.

Enjoy your evening.                                                             Maureen Coxon, Newsletter & Advertising
