Good Evening, It hardly seems four weeks since we were here last month learning about the
‘Bees & Butterflies’ and now this month we will find out about ‘Colour in Leaf’ which brings quite
a bright picture in mind for our gardens this year. Anthony Norman from Conquest Plants
Nursery is the very person to bring the ‘Colour in Leaf’ to reality. Conquest Plants Nursery is
a professional nursery based in Macclesfield, they specialise in shrubs, grasses, perennials and
bulbs with variegated, red, silver, or bronze leaves. What more could you want. Even better
news, Anthony is bringing plants with him to sale. We just love a chance for a good buy, don’t
we. So get your money out!
We asked you last month if there was a favourite plant we could use for our annual competition
at the AGM, and Geraniums have come up trumps. Lovely Geraniums, most people just love
them, ever member will be given a small plant. Your job is to nourish and care for it and bring
it along for the AGM and the one voted the best will obviously be the winner. Good Luck.
Have you had a look at our website lately? Gwyn has been hard at work and it is really amazing,
you can view some photographs of the past competitions we’ve held, also the community gar-
dens that some of our members are tending to. Have a look at the planters outside the Library
and the long border by the Medical Centre. Have a look at the beautiful gardens we have visited
in the past. We try to be involved in as many local competitions and events as we can, and you
can read all about them on our website, and if you haven’t already joined us on one of our trips,
then have a look at the pictures to see what you’re missing.
Talking of trips, on the 22nd May we are going on our annual day out, they have always been
very popular, this year we are going to Bodnant Gardens in Snowdonia, also to the Welsh Food
Centre. We hope we will be lucky to see the amazing Laburnum Grove, it really is a site to
behold, let’s hope the weather is perfect. We will be leaving the Community Centre at 9.30am
returning, traffic allowing, about 4.30pm. If you are a National Trust member, the cost is €20
– don’t forget your NT card or you will have to pay the entrance fee of £14. For non National
Trust members the cost is £34.
Climate Action Frodsham – don’t forget the seed and Plant Swap on Saturday 29thApril, from
1pm to 3pm.in the Community Centre.
The bluebells at Bluebells Cottage Garden are just about to come into full bloom, why not
combine a beautiful walk in the woods with a look around Sue Beesley’s garden and plant centre.
If you are looking for exercise and fresh air, on Friday 28th April, Frodsham Festival of Walks
are ‘Around the World with Trees’ in Castle Park with Kath Glee. A 1 mile stroll lasting 1.5 hrs.
Meet at the front entrance to Castle Park. For other walks visit the website. frodshamfesti-
