Good Evening, It is so good to see you here again tonight. Long may this continue . Our speaker tonight is Maureen Sawyer who is by any standards a very busy lady. She is not only a gardener, not only a practising artist and designer who exhibits in galleries and craft shops, she also offers garden design and consultation services and on top of that is constantly developing her own garden at Southlands in Stretton, and if that wasn’t enough she is also a member of the National Executive Committee of the Cottage Garden Society and.. .. Maureen is a listed RHS Speaker. Wow! Now there’s a lesson on how to live life to the full.
Since the club has had such a long break due to Covid. Behind the scenes there are still lots of work going on to get the club back to the smooth running order of old. But we are almost there, a few of the committee have been very busy booking speakers for future meetings and planning those lovely little visits of a (hopefully) sunny summer evening visit to a nearby garden or we can go off on a half day visit.
Earlier in the year Gwyn put out a plea for help on running the committee and she had three responses come forward. Our three new committee members are Mandy Morgan, Helen Watson and Sue Wood, they are already getting stuck in and are most welcome hands with the running of the club. Thank you Ladies.
Now it’s ‘Don’t forget time’ Firstly don’t forget on production of your membership card you can receive 10% discount at Jenny Penny’s Flowers, also, There is 10% discount at Gleaves Garden Centre, ‘every little helps they say’! One other thing I would remind you of is our Charity Table, all proceeds from this will go to our Charity of the year which is the RHS Bridgewater Garden. So if you have any good quality items relating to the garden please bring them along, or if you are splitting some plants, don’t throw the cutting out, bring them along, someone may just be looking for that very plant. Why stack things away to the back of the shelf when someone else could do with it, so bring it along and help raise funds for our charity of the year.
On a normal year November is our Christmas meeting and we’ve always done something special for it, we’ve had workshops of all sorts and we’ve always had fun, alas time has been short this time but Peter Llewellyn will entertain us on ‘Mediterranean Flowers’, so we shall just have to imagine we are somewhere very warm and beautiful. What’s not entertaining about that!. Havea great evening.
