Happy New Year. Welcome to the first meeting of 2018.
Well Christmas has gone, New Year’s over, now there’s a bit of a lull with time to breathe and time to relax, and during this cold wintery weather, time to think and plan our gardening year, so to start the year off Steve Halliwell from Preston, Author, Public Speaker and Biographer, will be giving us a talk all about Gresgarth Hall Gardens. Now if anyone knows Grasgarth Hall Gardens then its Steve Halliwell.
Potato Days by Brighter Blooms of Preston, Lancs. If you are a potato or veg grower there are over 90 different varieties of seed potato in 1kg nets, also onion sets, garlic, vegetable seeds, fruit plants & trees, summer flowering bulbs and much much more. For Sale; A manual Aerator which cost £29 and is in an unopened box is looking for a new home, Member Judy Cunningham kindly suggests that the new owner could give the club a donation rather than pay full price. How kind of Judy. Are you interested? It is in the hall tonight for you to inspect.
Ness Gardens Snowdrop & Winter Walk, Saturday 17 to 24th Feb 1-3.30pm. A guided walk followed by hot drinks by the roaring fire. Now that sounds nice.
Norton Priory, 28th January are having a Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop January 28th Jan, 10-1pm. £25.00 pp. On Feb. 25th they are holding Fruit Tree Grafting, 10-1pm £25.00.pp
As a member, we need your help in putting together the programme of events, we don’t want to bring speakers for subjects you are not interested in or to take you to places we have already visited, so please let us know subjects for speakers, places you would like the club to visit, a particular workshop you would love to do, we want our members to be happy and want you to come back, we really don’t want to bore you. We do need your recommendations, please share your thoughts and wishes with us, help us put together an exciting programme.
Weaver Words Literature Festival 2018, Wed 25-29th April. Five days of amazing workshops and talks. Plus two exciting creative writing competitions, for adults and children.
