Good Evening and welcome to our Christmas Workshop… Already! Where has the year gone? We have always enjoyed our workshops, and have great fun making beautiful displays for Christmas; it may be for the table, garden or the door. Who would have thought we could possibly make such beautiful things. But with expert tuition, and this year we have Florists, Jayne Marsh and Catherine Carter to guide us through the process. If you don’t have enough items to decorate your wreath Jayne and Catherine have made up bags of decorations which you can buy for £2.50, so your wreath won’t go unadorned. I don’t know about you but I so enjoy it when someone gives me a compliment on something I have made in a workshop, and to say “Thank you, I made it myself” makes you feel very proud. I hope you will feel proud tonight.
Due to space tonight, we will not have a charity table, but the contributions from last month totalled £30. This has been sent to ‘Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis’ in memory of Glenys Griffiths.
There are a number of exciting events coming up in 2015 in Frodsham. The W.I. will be holding their Centenary Year Celebrations and they would like to bring back to Frodsham the Horticultural Show, It would be wonderful to bring this event back to the community again, but representatives from various community clubs are needed to join the organising committee. Do you know of a club who would like to help this fantastic event? would you be a willing helper to make the Frodsham Horticultural Show rise from the ashes. The planned date for this is September 2015. Contact the W.I. with all enquiries.
To take your mind of the dark and miserable months ahead keep an eye around you and use a broad mind to find that ‘Plant in an unusual Container’ for the annual competition in June.
Another thought for the winter. Would you like to take on an Allotment? There are still some plots vacant for a discounted ½ year price at the Townfield Allotments. Just think of the vegetables fruits and flowers you could grow.
The other local event taking place is the Frodsham Christmas Festival on 29th November in the Station Car Park. Numerous events in and around the town – don’t miss it,
Our meeting in January is very aptly named, Barry Proctor will present ‘Winter Structure’, Proctors Nursery in North Staffordshire has been in the Proctor family since the 1870’s. Their motto is ‘If we can grow it, it will grow anywhere! Just the sort of thing we like to hear.
Also in January we will be able to give you the date of our annual outing, we realise the need for our members to plan ahead, and we will endeavour to fix the date well in advance for you to mark in your diaries, Exciting times ahead!
A few Christmas events around, Norton Priory have a Christmas Fair Sunday 30th 11-4pm, Gifts, local produce and crafts in the Medieval Undercroft. Entry £2.
Arley Christmas Floral Extravaganza, 6-12 Dec. 11-5pm Adults £7.50., prices may change.
