Hello, Good to see you again we hope you enjoy your evening. Anne Harrison, who lectures at Reaseheath College, Nantwich, and in the past has been on Chris Evans radio programme, is well informed to help us tonight, with ‘Colour in the Garden’. As Spring is just round the corner we need to listen to Anne to give us some good ideas to make our gardens a blaze of colour all summer long.
Frodsham Community Centre is celebrating its 50thBirthday this year. As part of the celebrations they are asking for support of a Golden Donation of £50 from groups, clubs and local businesses and individuals using the Centre. We, as a club probably wouldn’t ‘be’ without this great building and in view of that, Frodsham Gardening Club are delighted to donate a Golden Donation of £50 towards the celebrations. Each donation will have their names printed on the back of the downhill run vests and the ‘Centre at 50 Events’ Golden Names’ will be added to the Draw for the Golden Ticket giving the winner the honour of starting the downhill race and presenting the prizes.
Our charity table is here to sell any gardening equipment you no longer need, or if you have spare packets of plants, maybe a few copies of gardening magazines, and of course once the weather really warms up you may have too many seedlings, please bring them in for the charity table, We only ask a small donation or perhaps there will be a price on the item if it’s a piece of equipment. All proceeds will go to Walton Lea Garden Project. But please, if your items are not sold, please take them home.
Don’t forget members receive 10% discount at Gleaves Garden Centre. Every little bit helps!
We have two garden visits coming up, the first to ‘Rosewood’ at Puddington, Neston on 30thApril at 1.30pm. The cost is £4.00, which includes Angela the owner’s refreshments; so far we only have 11 people down for the visit. We will be using our own transport for this visit so if you need a lift please ask as we are car sharing and we will fit you in somebody’s car. The second garden visit is to Ashwood Nurseries near Wolverhampton, on Tuesday 21stMay, leaving at 9.00am. We will be given a guided tour of the 3 acre garden which includes the informal borders, island beds and woodland dells, The tour will take 1hour 15minutes. After that you will be free to browse the plant sales area, greenhouses and quality gift shop. On the return journey home we stop at Dobbies near Shrewsbury, for tea and refreshments, which is included in the cost of the trip, time to look round the garden centre and retail outlets, leaving there about 4.15pm. We plan to arrive home about 6pm, traffic permitting. The cost of the trip is £25.00 for members and £27.00 for visitors. This covers travel, the tour of the garden and refreshments at Dobbies. Please bring sandwiches and a drink for lunch; We will have our lunch either at Ashwood or on the coach, between visits.
Please ask your friends or relatives if they would like to come on the trip, we have spaces on the coach which we would love to see filled, More the merrier.
Just one more thing – Gentlemen!. We are perplexed. We are delighted you are here, but have you any idea why other Gents don’t attend the gardening club? We would love more men to attend, Can you ask your friends and relatives, they will be made most welcome. We promise!
A final thought;
