Good Evening everyone and welcome to this evening’s meeting, Tonight Ted Brabin an amateur botanist will be entertaining us with his talk about ‘Plant Hunting in Tibet’.  In November we enjoyed Peter Llewellyn talking about the flowers from Western Australia now tonight we are in Tibet, how fascinating to hear about those rare plants from around the world.

Throughout the year if we hear about an interesting speaker on a subject we think you might enjoy we investigate further and take note to book them for a future evening talk, so, as we have often said before, if you should hear about someone interesting, please take note and let us know, we will always look into it as a possibility for the future. We are here to entertain you and to broaden your gardening knowledge.

We are now possibly at the coldest time of the British year yet have you noticed the gardens? There is still a fair bit of colour around, Snow drops have been up and flowering for a few weeks now, some are up and over and others just appearing and ready to flower, There are so many places to go on snowdrop walks around Cheshire, Rodehall & Gardens Jan 30thto 6thMarch have a magical end-of-winter walk, small mirrors are placed directly on the ground under the snowdrops making it easy to see directly into the heart of the flower, without having to tilt the flower and risk damage. Also, on Feb 10th from 2-4pm Snowdrops at Lovell Quinta Arboretum, entrance £2.50.

The Christmas Tree Festival at Frodsham Methodist Church went very well indeed, Gwyn who masterminded the idea, and with the help of a few of our good members made the snowflakes and all other decorations. They had lots of compliments when the tree was finished. Many thanks to Gwyn for such an excellent idea. The Festival is a good way to promote the gardening club. And since we have been well placed each year we are getting to be known.

Now, do you have your gloves & scarf ready? It’s going to get a little chilly, We’re off to Tibet!
