Good evening, on behalf of all the members of the Committee may we wish you a very Happy New Year and a bountiful and fruitful gardening year.

Lets’ go back to November firstly, did you enjoy the Christmas Workshop?

Wasn’t it fun? Who would believe a simple block of florist foam could finish off looking so good, and personally, my basket lasted well into January, Eleanor Griffiths has some great ideas, we must ask her back again to show us more wonderful ideas.

To begin our New Year, we have with us tonight John Edmondson, John, was the former Head of Science at National Museums in Liverpool and he is an Honourable Research Associate of the Botanic Gardens at Kew, so I doubt there is anyone more authorised to talk about the beautiful ‘Heritage Gardens of Ireland’ than John, I’m sure we are in for a treat.

Our Charity Table is up and running again, if you are taking cuttings or thinning plants out and don’t know where/what to do with them, perhaps you could pot them up and sell then on our charity table. Any unwanted gardening gifts or good books, any home made jams, preserves or fruits from your trees are always welcome – But please remember if any of your goods are still on the table at the end of the meeting, please take them home with you.  And remember – All proceeds go to Charity.

Visit to Dunham Massey; A 29 seater coach is booked for our trip on 8th March, make sure this is in your diary. The cost will be £10. Anyone who is not a member of the National Trust will also need to pay £7 for the garden visit,  Mike the Gardener will give us a guided tour if there are 15 people in the group. This money for the garden visit will be paid directly to Dunham Massey.  NT membership cards must be shown.  The coach will be outside the Community Centre at 12.30, ready to leave at 12.45pm.  We will leave Dunham Massey for home at 4.00pm.  If possible payment would be welcome at tonight’s meeting.  Enjoy your evening.
