Spring has sprung! It’s official now and everything is taking off at speed, not only our plants but our programme too.  We have so much about to happen.  We will not be having another meeting between now and the AGM, so details are needed now.

First Trip, Abbeywood, We will meet in the Abbeywood car park at 1.30pm. Monday 18th May, Post code; CW82HS. If you need a lift please state so tonight.

Second Trip. Wood End Cottage, Whitegate, Monday 29th June, It will take about 25mins. to get to Wood End where parking is restricted, could you please be at the Community Centre at 6.20pm to organise the car share to leave by 6.30pm, of course if you already have a full car, make your way directly, the post code is CW82BQ.

Third Trip, Powys Castle & Dingle Nursery. The coach leaves the Community Centre at 9.30am Be there by 9.15 latest. We leave Powis about 4-4,30pm and should arrive home about 6.pm. DON’T FORGET YOUR RHS AND NATIONAL TRUST CARDS or you will have to pay full price,

If you are bringing a guest please give their details to Jan Moran or any committee member, their names are needed for security purposes only.

We hope to arrive at Dingle Nursery around 11am for coffee/tea. If you prefer you could have your picnic lunch on the coach either before of after Dingle giving you more time for exploring and plant buying. Be back on the coach for 12.45 and then on to Powis by 1.30pm.  Feel free to make your own arrangements for refreshments. Be very careful with your footing on the steps down to the lake and on the woodland walks and take your time, do your own thing and enjoy these exciting places.

Our next meeting at the Community Centre will be our AGM on 22nd June, the fun bit is our annual competition, just to remind you, it’s ‘A Plant In An Unusual Container’.

Have you thought of something unusual? We will also have ‘The Best Holiday Garden Photo’, your best picture be it a public garden, or even a plant. Just one photo, Put the place where the photo was taken and your name on the back of the photo. We will vote for the best picture and Guess the Venue of the Garden.

For those seeking unusual plants, Stoneyford Cottage Garden will be holding a plant Hunters Fair on 26th May.  So too are Adlington Hall, Macclesfield, Sunday 10th May.  Hooksgreen Herbs, Stone, Staffordshire (last months talk) are holding Open Days on Sat. 2nd May and Sat & Sun. 11/12 July 10am-5pm.  Norton Priory has a variety of events up and coming, Monday 11th May, Tour of the Walled Garden with John Budworth, Head Gardener. Sunday 24th May, ‘Introduction to Bee Keeping’ and Monday 8th June ‘Geoffrey of Dutton, Norton Priory and the Fifth Crusade’

The Bluebells are out! Says Sue Beesley of Bluebell Cottage Gardens and Nursery,

The Frodsham Show preparations are going well, there will be all manner of classes, and we will be sponsoring a ‘Hand Tied Posy in a Jam Jar’ and all of the Children’s section. Details can be found from Dandelion Gifts.
