Hello and welcome. Tonight we have William & Louise Friend from Mucklestone Nurseries, They are based in North Shropshire, and also in Kent. Not all plants are suited to all soils or in all parts of the Country, so in Kent the nursery, known as Botany Plants, is more suited to the growing of Mediterranean planting, whilst North Shropshire is more suitable to a range of plants for wetter, cooler and more acidic conditions of the N. West of Britain. I believe the nursery is based in a rather stunning location looking over to North Wales, it makes you want to go and find out for yourself. Doesn’t it….. Well you can!! I can? You ask! Yes you can! Just look what’s coming up.

Your Committee has been doing a lot of planning and organising and we have a good list of speakers coming this year, and the visits we will make will certainly put a spark in your year. Here’s what’s happening.
Have you got your diary ready?

Monday 23rd May, 7pm. Norton Priory Walled Garden, you will have a guided tour of the walled garden followed by refreshments. Cost £6 for members & visitors.
Monday 20th June 7pm. Poulton Hall, Wirral. Meeting at Poulton Hall, including refreshments the cost is £10.

Tuesday 5th July, coach leaves Frodsham 9.30. Arriving Home 6pm. Mucklestone Nursery, Hodnet Hall and Wollerton Old Hall Gardens.
The cost for the full day is just £26.00, this is covering coach travel, entrance fees and a cream tea. You will also need to bring a packed lunch.

We really hope you can come and support the Club, I think Wallace and Gromit would say the 5th July will be a ‘Grand Day Out’.
May we ask if you would kindly book and pay for both these the trips at the next meeting.

Now as if that wasn’t enough! There is one other trip you might want to make, it isn’t with the Gardening Club but with the WI, they are going by coach to The BBC Food Show at Harrogate Saturday 9th April, There are several free spaces if anyone would like to join them, either for the Show itself, or if you just fancy a day out in Harrogate (in which case you pay for the coach only). Contact Cath Stone on 01928735454. Are you a fan of the Hairy Bikers? Well they will be there.

Have you made a start on your growing competition for July yet? By all accounts now is the time to make that start, not forgetting you will have to bring it to the meeting so think about the container/s carefully
